Offerings to Devi – Rasayana Prasadam

We have often observed that a dish made out of sheer love tastes amazing isn’t it? and the prasad or prasadam (a traditional edible offering made to a deity and distributed amongst others post a ritual) which we receive post a ritual/celebration always seems heavenly! One of the main reason behind making offerings to a deity was designed to instil devotion within us in such a way that every act of ours are carried out in a similar manner. Preparing an offering is also an opportunity to melt ourselves and get completely involved into the act of making it.

Making simple dishes taste good is an art which can be mastered with absolute devotion.

Offered by devotees in Karnataka, here we bring you a very simple sweet dish recipe which involves no cooking.

RECIPE

4 ripe bananas chopped
1 1/4 cup Fresh thick coconut milk
3-4 tbsp Powdered Jaggery (adjust as per your taste)
1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
1/2 tsp Ghee
1 tsp Honey
Roasted almonds (optional)


1. Add the jaggery to the sliced bananas & mix well.
2. To the coconut milk – add the ghee, cardamom powder & honey.
3. Pour this coconut milk over the banana jaggery mixture and mix.
4. Garnish with roasted almonds for the crunch.

Additionally, you can add some Saffron strands (soaked in warm milk). Freshly made coconut milk adds taste to this recipe. Vegans can avoid ghee.
